Diets and Women: How the Industry Preys on You

After this past year, more people than ever before have become concerned about their health. Over a year ago the coronavirus outbreak began in Wuhan, China. Although the Chinese authorities tried to contain the outbreak by locking down the area people had already begun to leave and the virus had already begun to spread. The coronavirus wreaked havoc on the world and caused life as we know it to change. The virus attacks your lungs and as it was a new virus people couldn’t fight it off and it led to over a million deaths. As well as causing a large number of deaths it has also caused health issues in many more people as long covid has a significant impact. This has made people want to make a change as the healthier you are and the more you look after your body the better you will be able to fight off anything that tries to cause you harm. The lockdowns that were implemented as a result of the virus also caused many mental health issues as many people were living alone and spent a year alone and many people struggled to deal with the disruptions to their daily lives and not being able to see their loved ones caused a decline in their mental health. Now that life is returning to normal people are wanting to make changes to their lives to feel happier again, people are working out to help both their mental and physical health. As a woman trying to get healthier it is easy to be misled as there are many things in the industry that target women that aren’t necessarily healthy, we will delve into how the industry preys on women who are dieting.

 The Diet Industry

The diet industry is one of the most profitable industries in the world, the UK is only a small country but here alone the diet industry is worth upwards of £2 billion. It is hard to tell how much the industry is worth worldwide but it is estimated to be a 70-billion-dollar industry and it is projected to be worth upwards of 100 billion dollars by the end of the decade. The diet industry has become so successful as it preys on women and uses their insecurities as a way to exploit them and make money from them. January is peak time for the diet industry where they bring in over 50% of what they will make in the year as many people make their new year’s resolution to lose weight and so more people are willing to spend more to achieve their goals at this time of year. Around 65% of women want to lose weight which makes them easy targets for the diet industry but it is likely that you will lose more money than you will weight. The diet industry promotes many products that claim to help with weight loss that has no scientific data to back it up but cost a lot to purchase, over 90% of these products fail every time.

Although all of the science and data is there to show that there is no magical way to lose weight many people don’t want to put in the effort to lose weight so are drawn to the products being promoted by the diet industry as a shortcut to achieving their goals. We can’t stress enough how completing a 14-day tea tox or taking fat loss pills won’t get you the results you want. To help any women being preyed on by the diet industry we’ve found some things that will help you to lose weight without resorting to any dieting extremes.

Healthy Ways to Lose Weight

There are many ways to lose weight that are much cheaper, healthier, and more effective than the products that the diet industry promotes. The best way to lose weight is by putting the time and effort into exercise to eat healthily. This doesn’t mean you always have to be working out, a couple of weights sessions a week and a few cardio sessions are all you need to see massive changes to your appearance. Whilst it may be overwhelming at first trying to figure out what to eat, how much to eat, and what to do when you work out, there is so much information available online including exercise plans to follow if you’re unsure and healthy meal ideas. If you’re still not sure instead of spending money on fad products, it would be worth getting a PT or an online coach who can help guide you on your journey until you feel you know enough to carry on alone.

It may take a while to see these changes so we do have a few tips to speed the process up, firstly the free-from range in the UK sales have shot up by 40% in recent years as many people are realizing that not eating meat or dairy is a diet that doesn’t involve counting calories but helps to lose weight. The other thing that we would recommend is the lean bean system, while it may seem like another fad this has been proven to work and you can read reviews of the lean bean fat burning system to get all the information you need and be convinced how great this system is.
